All of our own kits are designed and built in Lancaster, South Carolina. Some kits are built on an as need basis. Others are kitted in small, specialty production runs. Others will be kept in stock on the shelf. Currently, we have two models available but more are on the way!
Qwic-Fly Short-Plus Kit: $125 Full Kit: $155
The Qwic-Fly is a present day replica of the Phil Kraft
designed Kwik-Fli III featured in the
February 1968 edition of Model Airplane News.
In the accompanying article Mr Kraft
indicated he actually designed Kwik-Fli IV's and V's.
However, he still preferred the
"Mark III". The name "Kwik-Fli" does not refer to the flight characteristics
of the plane but
is an indication of the build time involved.
Interestingly, the drawings originally generated
by Mr Kraft for Model Airplane News denote the name as
the "'Qwik-Fli' Mark III".

There are three versions of these laser cut kits,
the short kit, a short plus kit, and a full kit. The
short kit consists of a canopy, top
block, landing gear, drawing copies, short instructions, ribs,
fuselage
formers, firewall, landing gear doublers, fin, stabilizer, and rudder.
The short
plus kit includes all of the aforementioned plus
balsa fuselage sides, fuselage main
doublers, elevators, hardwood landing gear blocks & torsion blocks, and the
fuel hatch.
The full kit includes everything in the short plus kit plus all of
the wood stock to complete
the wing, fuselage, horizontal stabilizer, and the
following new items have been added
to the full kit: nylon pin hinges, front landing
gear, 5/32 collars,
control horns,
steering arm assembly, landing gear straps, nylon wing
bolts, and 90 deg
bell cranks.
What you need to complete the kit: push rods, push
rod links, wheels, fuel tank, fuel
tubing, .45 - .61 engine (2-cycle), epoxy, CA, radio,
covering, motor mount, spinner,
and a
prop.
The plane is rated for a .45 to .61 glow. A little bit larger for four
cycle. The wingspan
is 59". It will weigh in around 5.5
- 6.5 pounds, depending on what is installed into it.
The kit is designed for the
intermediate or experienced builder. As mentioned above,
plans and instructions are included, but the builder is
expected to possess knowledge
of basic building techniques.
Please note: everything in the design of this kit is a
reproduction of the original Phil Kraft
design. However, the canopy is an OEM supplied
canopy that must be modified by the
modeler to mimic the actual profile (instructions are
included). Copies of the original canopy
should be available the summer/fall of 2008. The
kit also contains instructions and some
parts to convert it to a more modern version of the
plane, if one so desires..
The short plus kit $125, and the
full kit is $155. Club prices: five or more kits $150 each, 10 or more kits
$145 each. All prices include shipping within the continental United States....SHIPPING IS
